Social Media & College Applications

For some of us, our junior year of high school is coming to an end and summer break is just around the corner. If you are planning on attending a 4-year university next year, the college application process is just around the corner as well. One very important thing to keep in mind is the significant role that social media is playing in today’s application process. About 75% of the colleges monitor social media as part of their admissions and merit aid decisions. Most people tell their kids, “don’t post anything stupid.” That’s not it. Educate yourself on what they are looking for. Not only are they looking for good students, but they are looking for great human beings as well. Your social media profile can sway not just the admission to a college, but can also help boost your merit aid offers as well. Do your homework, figure out how to build up your social media profile to help you stand out. If you are not quite sure where to begin, feel free to contact me. Social media is now playing an extremely important role in the future of our children, make sure they are prepared.
